About Tāwari

Tāwari (Ixerba brexioides) is a graceful, small to medium-sized native tree found mainly in the moist, forested areas of New Zealand’s North Island. It features glossy, dark green leaves and clusters of striking white, star-shaped flowers that bloom from spring to early summer. Tāwari is renowned for its abundant, sweet nectar, which was traditionally gathered by Māori as a natural sweetener and is highly valued by native birds and bees. The nectar’s rich, honey-like flavor makes it a key source for producing high-quality native honey, and its floral display is a beautiful sight amid dense forest canopies. Parts of the tree were traditionally used in Māori medicine for wound healing, treating skin infections, and as a general tonic to support health and well-being.

The Benefits

Our Tāwari Honey is hand-harvested and unpasteurised, ensuring it retains its full spectrum of vitamins, minerals, and bioactive compounds. Processed at low temperatures, it preserves its natural enzymes and delicate flavour profile, delivering unparalleled purity and quality.
