About Kānuka

Kānuka (Kunzea ericoides) is a hardy shrub or small tree that often grows in scrublands and regenerating areas. It's Latin name reminds us of the resemblance to heather species, in botany known under Erica. It blooms with clusters of small white flowers from late spring to early autumn. Kānuka’s fine, soft leaves give off a mild herbal scent when crushed, and it is often confused with its close relative, Mānuka. Kānuka has long been valued in traditional Māori medicine (rongoā Māori) to treat wounds, respiratory issues, pain and inflammation, digestive discomfort, and as a general health tonic.

The Benefits

With its smooth texture, delicate floral taste, and subtle caramel notes, Kānuka honey is as versatile as it is beneficial. Naturally rich in β-triketones and hydrogen peroxide, it offers superior antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and skin-soothing properties, making it a premium choice for natural health, skincare, and wellness applications.

Commercial Uses of Kānuka Honey

Honey Varietals

We don't just do Mānuka Honey but a range of Native Varietal Honeys as well as Thyme and Clover. These varietals are crafted by bees collecting nectar from multiple unique and renowned native floral sources including Kāmahi, Kānuka, Pōhutukawa, and Rewarewa.
